Meet amazing women from history as they take to the streets of Newark for International Women’s Day. From national names like Jane Austen and Nell Gwyn to famous females from Newark’s past including Lady Ossington and Palace Theatre-founder Emily Blagg, hear from some fascinating feminine icons as they stroll through the market place and take to the stage in front of the Buttermarket to tell their stories. Each costumed character will perform twice during the day and there’ll be chances to come face to face with them all as they roam. There’ll also be a British Sign Language interpreter to ensure that all can enjoy these illuminating performances.
