Celebrating Twelfth Night with the Fools’ Parade

January 8, 2023

Free
Sheriff of Nottingham

You don’t have to be a fool to join in the Fools’ Parade at Sherwood Forest – but it helps!

After being stripped of his powers over Christmas, the Sheriff of Nottingham will again take control of the ancient greenwood at this traditional ceremony, setting out from the edge of the forest to the Major Oak at its heart.

Will Robin Hood and his merry band make good their escape before the Sheriff is able to set his forces on the hunt for the outlaws once again?

There will be performances, plays and activities to enjoy and we want you to dress up in your silliest hat – or go the whole hog in fancy dress from top to toe – to really get into the spirit of the Fools’ Parade.

This is a free event, although there may be a small charge for some activities. Parking costs just £5 per vehicle per day at Sherwood for non-RSPB members, and helps the RSPB to carry out its vital conservation work, but there is no admission charge to enter the reserve.
