Newark Book Festival 2023

Newark Book Festival is a local and regional festival, celebrating reading, writing and people who love books! Since 2017, we have been bringing authors, illustrators and readers together for four-day summer festival, packed with events for all ages to enjoy, including talks and workshops, an ever-expanding literature market, and street theatre and entertainment. As well as our main festival (in July) we have a blossoming schools and education programme in Newark and Sherwood, as well as a touring programme that brings talks and events to Southwell, Edwinstowe, Bilsthorpe, Laxton, and many other places too! We aim to share good writing, encourage reading, support writers and offer the opportunity to meet authors through an inclusive and accessible programme of events. We want the Festival to challenge, inspire and fire imaginations both young and old, celebrating and showcasing the world of books as well as local writing talent.
