Join the Explorer Dome team for a family-friendly fantastic to one of the most inspiring topics: Our Earth, our Sun, our solar system and our place in space. This is an interactive guide to our local neighbourhood and beyond with the opportunity to ask big questions, explore interests and learn how to spot the constellations in the sky tonight.
There will be six shows throughout the day, 10-10.45am, 11-11.45am, 12-12.45pm, 1.30- 2.15pm and 2.30-3.15pm, and booking is essential. Please book tickets for all people attending the workshop, both children and accompanying adults. All children must be accompanied by an adult. The event is most suitable for children aged 8+.
During your visit you can also explore the grounds and grand rooms of the beautiful, grade II listed Upton Hall which is home to the Museum. You can also discover more about the long, rich history of the Museum of Timekeeping and its members, who have promoted the study and practice of clock and watchmaking since their foundation in 1858.
At the Museum of Timekeeping you can explore amazing exhibits including the watch worn by Captain Scott on his ill-fated polar expedition of 1912. You can also discover more about early timekeeping devices including turret and lantern clocks, and hear the voice of the General Post Office’s first Speaking Clock via the original machine itself.
