A signalman was a responsible job with a huge safety role. Between the wars, there were around 15,000 signal boxes, and this is a way of life that has almost completely disappeared. They have recently been given access to photos of most of the stations between Nottingham and Lincoln and are preparing photo display boards to be displayed along the line. Before they are installed, they will all be on display at the Lowdham signal box for Heritage Open Days.
