Newark Traditions Festival

July 16, 2022 - July 17, 2022

Newark Traditions Festival is an annual celebration of traditional dance, music, song, crafts and folklore, held in the historic market town of Newark on Trent. It is a not-for-profit community organisation that arranges an open access festival, providing free entertainment as far as possible.

After a two-year gap, morris dancing returns to Newark in a celebration of the nation’s culture and traditions. A dozen teams from across the East Midlands, Yorkshire and Northumberland will be dancing in the Market Place and the Castle Gardens on Saturday 16th July with another six teams performing on the Sunday. Dancing starts with a procession around the market at about quarter past ten on Saturday morning.

After spending the day watching the dancing, why not pop into a session of rousing chorus songs in Just Beer on Saturday evening? This is led by Hanging Johnny from Lincoln and is always a memorable event.

Please remember to check the latest COVID-19 guidance before attending any event and contact the event organiser should you need any further information on the COVID-secure measures that will be put in place. Newark & Sherwood District Council is not in a position to confirm that the events advertised are Covid-19 Secure.
