Join the mysterious Green Man, the timeless spirit of rebirth and new growth, as he leads an afternoon of wassailing at Sherwood – the ancient tradition of toasting the health of the forest for the year ahead.
Set out on a rough parade to the Major Oak with pots and pans, loud voices or anything else you like to make a din so loud it frightens away the terrifying Krampus spirits who have taken up residence among the trees of Sherwood Forest.
Children can make bird-seed shakers at the Visitor Centre for just £1 before setting out on the parade to make some noise, as well as to feed the birds in the garden when they get home after a magical afternoon in the Forest.
The Lady Bay Revellers Morris Dancing group will be performing at the Visitor Centre at 2.45pm and then again at the Major Oak at the end of the parade.
Please bring a torch, lantern or any other light source which will then create a torchlit parade back to the Visitor Centre as dusk begins to fall and the shadows lengthen across the Forest.
Please remember to check the latest COVID-19 guidance before attending any event and contact the event organiser should you need any further information on the COVID-secure measures that will be put in place.
