White Roses

March 12, 2023 @ 1:00 pm - 3:30 pm

£7.50 – £9.00

Join us for a celebration of written art, through the mediums of poetry and animation, inspired by the emotive testimony of Holocaust Survivors.

On Sunday 12th March we come together to reflect. What happens when we hear this story? What happens when people aren’t here to tell their stories? How will we listen and to whom?

Experience live storytelling, poetry and performance inspired by the incredible Holocaust survivor stories and artefacts here at the Museum.

We will be joined by Holocaust Survivors Simon Winston BEM and Ruth Schwiening. They will each take to the stage to listen to the creative poetry that they inspired and interact with the authors.

Professional poet Amina Atiq will read her poem ‘White Roses’ and we will be hearing Simon’s response to this beautiful piece of poetry.

We will then have the unique opportunity to be part of an event where Ruth Schwiening’s testimony has inspired creative writing, which then in turn inspired Ruth to create a piece of glass art about the poem.

We are thrilled to be joined by the cast of ‘Broken Instruments’ who will be performing ‘Six Million White Roses’ the beautiful, original song that they have composed inspired by our Memorial Gardens.

Throughout the day there will be the opportunity to visit the Digital Installation which houses stories written by professional writers relating to World War 2 and the Holocaust.
