Did you know that Sherwood Forest is a haven not just for outlaws, but for woodpeckers too?
Join wildlife expert Margaret on a guided walk designed to reveal more about these iconic birds.
With three different species resident in the forest – green, great spotted and lesser spotted woodpeckers – Sherwood positively resounds to the unmistakable drumming of these fabulously colourful birds throughout the winter and Spring months.
And there’s every chance you’ll catch a glimpse of their colourful plumage as they move through the woodland canopy.
Keep your eyes peeled and your ears open as you don’t want to miss them.
The walk will last approximately 90 minutes, and as this is an outdoor event please bring suitable clothing and footwear.
If you have binoculars, please bring them too. Optics can also be hired from the Visitor Centre shop.
Unfortunately, no dogs allowed on this walk.
This walk is for all ages, although it may be challenging for families with pushchairs.
